Hey there! Let’s begin with the basics of me. My name is Caitlin Jones, and I have been growing up in a country town in Victoria, Australia for the past 20 years of my life. At the moment I am studying a Bachelor of Media and Communication majoring in Social Media; ironic, I know. And when I finish with that accomplishment, I am wanting to complete a PhD in the same field, as I am in love with learning in the media and communication area; again, ironic, I know. Oh and if you haven’t noticed already, I suffer from mental illnesses, in particular, anxiety and depression. But this section isn’t to learn about that; you can read my blog posts to get the update on that!
I always kept my feelings of anxiety and depression under the rug, even when I started seeking professional help, I kept it there. It was after about four months of continuous psychologist and doctor appointments that I had let all my friends know. I did this by writing My First Blog Post and shared it on both my Facebook and Instagram. The reason why was because I didn’t want to be constantly repeating myself to people I meet, I didn’t want to have that awkward part of the conversation where I go deep about what is happening; They already knew, and they were aware.
So there is the reasoning behind the content of the blog, and here we go about why I choose to write a blog, instead of the classic one-off Facebook post. From the age of 15, I was fascinated with those that had their own YouTube channels and blog sites, where they would share their passions and stories. I knew that was something I wanted to do, But I wasn’t quite sure what I would showcase. With that, I left that dream behind and moved forward, but always had that desire with me. It wasn’t until I survive a torturous few months, where my anxiety and depression were placing me in an unstable and uncontrollable state of mind that I decided to share my story. One of the factors that got me through that time of my life was thinking that if I was able to stay alive, the reason was because I had to share my lifestory in order to help those gain an understanding, as well as help those who find themselves in the same situation as I was.
